[opencms-dev] API documentation and examples?

Hi list,
I'm wondering if there are any documents providing some Java API examples
for OpenCMS, e.g. how to write a Module or how to access OpenCMS
functionality from other applications.
Specifically, I am looking for a way to create content/pages from outside of
OpenCMS by login in a user, choosing a template and then creating the
content object, publish it etc. - everything programmatically, via the Java
API...
any hints, tips, documents, etc. anyone?
