[opencms-dev] Problem with huge database size

Hi everybody!

I'm managing an OpenCMS system for rather large site family, and the problem
is that the amount of the data is growing far too fast along with updates
(3.4GB so far). I tried to limit the time of history for one week (I can't
disable history entirely because every now and then some of the editors is
making a mistake), deleted versions older than that via OpenCMS tool
(version 5.0), and noticed that rows of the table CMS_BACKUP_FILES and
CMS_BACKUP_RESOURCES decreased remarkably. Still the size of those tables
didn't decrease (first one being 2.3G).

What should I do to reduce database size? Am I having completely wrong
approach to the issue? Thanks for any help....
