Hi,

thanks very much for this hint Alex :) I've now found a way wich seems 
to suite my needs.

1.) apply only "overwrite inherited" and "Inherit on subfolders" for 
users and projectmamagers on the /sites folder
2.) grant access using "overwrite inherited" and "Inherit on 
subfolders"  only for the subfolders of /sites wich the usergroup (e.g. 
site1Users  may access)

Using this method you don't have to revoke access explicitly for each site.
