Wow, ;-)

the path used for preview when you are logged in depends on the setting of the 
selector "site".
When set to the same site as for the case when you are not logged in ( site 
settings in opencms-system.xml) and calling the site, the paths are 
identically...
If set to "/" and you have a preview of /sites/mysite/somthing.html 
the /sites/mysite/ is in the path.

Well, somebody could have told me! :)
