[opencms-dev] Newbie's Doubt

Hi,
 
I am new to this group. First, Let I introduce myself. Basically I am a B.E graduate in Computer Science. I have a basic knowledge in core java. I have also learnt C,C++ and IBM Mainframe on OS/390. Now I'm learning core java and I'm in finishing stage and I also planned to do course on Advanced Java(J2EE).
 
Now, what I wish to do is, I want to develop a content management system purely in java. I don't know where to start this. At that time only I came to know about openCMS which is developed in java. Since this is a open software, I can get the source code. 
 
Based upon the details provided above, it's possible to understand the coding that were written in java for openCMS. For example, to understand the coding(or module) or to develop whatever module I want, to what extend the technical skill is needed. I once again tell u what are the languages I know: 
 
C,C++,Core Java,Oracle,DB2,Mainframe(MVS,JCL,VSAM,CICS,COBOL),MS Access.
