It's probably not the cause of your problem, but I would try using the
latest JVM. I when I last looked that was 1.4.2_08 and 1.5.0_03. I
believe Tomcat 5.5.x runs best with Java 1.5.

1.4.2_01 is quite old and I believe some important secuity bugs have
been fixed in the mean time.
