[opencms-dev] tomcat?

Hi,
I am hosted on the basic hosting plan at godaddy.com
I upload my files using ftp. I am a very beginner designer (as opposed 
to coder/scripter).
My hosting plan offers my 1 mysql database, and uderstrands pearl and 
php.
I dont understand what tomcat is, and if i need it, and if i do, do i 
download it and install it on my remote server myself?
