This is not meant to be an ad, but I am using
www.1and1.com. I "rent" a linux root server from them
and I have full access to the server. There are many
configurations to choose from and their support has
been incredible.

I have installed OpenCms, JBoss, and MySQL on the root
server and all went according to plan.

You might want to check them out.
