Joe,
Tto be more precise, the problem with the export is more a problem with
the import, the export goes very well, but the reimport gives you a java
heap exception (on linux wit > 2 GB memory and a exportfile size of 80
MB).

Arash

A croned mysqldump would be the best solution and we have restored the
backup several times and all things was going very well. You shall
backup the entire webapps/opencms folder too. The problem with the
database export will arise, if the export is > 60 MB, then you can't
import it again, be aware! Tzhe export is needed mostly for upgrades,
then you should export smaller parts of your vfs and reimport them to
the new version.
Kind Regards,
Arash

Any opinions on what's the best way to implement automated daily backups
of OpenCms.
I'm thinking of backing up the 'opencms' database in my MySQL
installation using mysqldump utility in a cron job. Or should I be
using OpenCms's export database facility? Or both?
I would love to hear from someone who as a successful system in place.
(I'll write this up in a Howto doc if I get good responses)
Joe.
