I find your second solution is attractive,but chances are slim :(
if there is no other solution,maybe,I prefer RMI than web service and ejb for the sake of performance

still waiting for an answer for the best solution. I described some
possible solutions in my mail but I do not know if they will work. I
will do some testing the next days and let you know through the
mailing list.
Another possible but not appreciated (I would like to use the API of
OpenCms) solution that I see is to schedule an OpenCms Static export
to the filesystem and load the static content in the portlet.
Hopefully, we are not the first that would like to show content by a
portlet that is managed in OpenCms.
