Hi,
why don't you use the synchronize feature? This "copies" the template files
to your local hard drive. Now you can use any editor you like.

I guess something like that - OpenCMS is wonderful as a page editor but
when it comes to actually laying out the site (like using modified versions
of the TemplateOne templates) you have to fall back to editing the XML
layouts directly.
Onother quirk - I have a number of pages with forms & javascript in them
where editing the page ends up with the javascript getting corrupted - the "
characters get replaced with " and other oddities (like the form
onsubmit calls getting replicated and enclosed in {} - this happens every
time the page gets editied so you end up with multiple onsubmit statements).
Editing the page with the "edit controlcode" function doesn't cause
corruption.
