[opencms-dev] Installation problem OpenCMS 6.0.3 under Windows XP

Here's the solution.

First, Tomcat 5.5 does NOT work with Java SDK 1.4.x and lower, only Java SDK 1.5.x. Check you installs and versions; make sure they're compatible and running properly.

Second, OpenCms does not support version 5 of MySql, officially anyway; use 4.1.x of MySql.

Third, does 'admin' have ALL privileges for the database used in OpenCms? The reason you are getting most/all of your exceptions is because your database user cannot log in to do its 'thing'.

You need to create a user that has ALL PRIVLEDGES for the OpenCms database.

Don't forget to restart database just to make sure the GRANT statement has worked properly.

Hi,

nope it does not matter who downloaded the archive.
Perhaps Arash is right because of version 5.1.15 if not I am running out
of ideas.. Sorry

Hmm, last try: Are you sure that you used the right account and
passwords in the setup-screen? I am talking about the screen where you
must key in the user account data for the opencms db user and the
(mysql) root user?

Regards
Jakob

Hello again Jakob,

it is a completely new installation. It is the first time I install
OpenCMS.

The Windows-account I'm using is an Administrator-account, although the
OpenCMS-package was downloaded by a user without
Administrator-privileges on the same machine. Can this be an issue?

Best,

Michael
