[opencms-dev] Creating a new site in Version 6.0.3

Hello,
I've read (nearly) all of the mailing list archives but could not find a definitive answer to the following question:
I want to create a new site "site_01" so that this appears as follows in the left Explorer panel:
sites/default
sites/site_01
This is not a problem (New->Folder) but the name /sites/site_01 does not appear in the list of options on the "Site" pull-down box.
Is this normal or am I doing something wrong.
