[opencms-dev] Use OpenCMS search to index non-OpenCMS content?

Our primary web site will be running in OpenCMS in the next month or  
so, but I've realised I have an issue with some of my external  
research centres that are held on the same server, but whose content  
will not be held within OpenCMS at all.

Is there any easy way to index them if they live entirely outside my  
Tomcat tree? Or would I have to place them inside the export folder  
or something to get them to be indexed?
