[opencms-dev] Setting up an event listener

I am working on creating an event listener to log certain events. I read
some documentation on how to create the listener but I could not find
any way of registering it. Some examples talk about adding an entry to
the registry.xml, this file is missing from my 6.2.1 installation. Any
information on how to register the listener would be most welcome.
