Joe, thank you for the information about CVS.

I have just found out that my archive search was not as thorough as it 
should have been. Otherwise I should have found the thread 
http://www.nabble.com/JSR-170-tf2118746.html#a5853894 from August 2006 
which contains a few details on the OpenCms 7 release plan.

I have added an entry to the new Wiki site with a link to this thread.
