If you can accurrately handle jsp's you'll find OpenCms very usefull. It has a 
several bunch of features. A very nice API too that can help you making 
improvements to the CMS itself.

Maybe you could impress your teacher by developing some module and uploading 
it to the community, instead of writing a whole new Cms by your own?
