I doubt that it's possible to use the <cms:img> tag with external URLs.
It's meant for handling local (VFS) resources, and doesn't load things over
HTTP from an external source.
I suspect the simplest thing would be for you to create VFS galleries to
hold only those images on the network share that you want. It does mean
that someone has to do the work of selecting those images and then uploading
them to OpenCms, but you could see that partly as an editorial task.

I am trying to use <cms:img> with images which are located in a server, I
need to access with samba \\Server\image_folder. I don´t want to use <img
src="\\Server\image_folder> because I want to use image scaling sometimes,
so I need <cms:img>
How can I use it?
