Marc,

The permissions to create or edit a file in OpenCms is not only handled by
the user roles, it also requires that you assign the required permissions to
the folders.

What you must do is the following: Create a group for your users, and (using
the OpenCms Explorer) attach this group to the "root folder" of your site
using the context menu (e.g. /sites/default/). Allow at least "read",
"write" and "view" permissions for this group.
