[opencms-dev] How to determine if a CmsResource is a sibling?

Hi all,

Just one question on this: What happens, if I have a file and created a sibling for it, and I update the "original" file? Will the sibling get updated, too?

Cheers,

Martin

Hi Carl,

thanks for your answer.

We built an eCommerce Shop with OpenCMS, the Products are represented in structured content files. Every night we have to update some products by a cronjob. Because on product has many siblings I want to update them only one time.

Cheers Tom

Since all siblings are "equal" that wouldn't make any sense - you can't really say that one is an "original" and the other is a "copy". If you have multiple references in the VFS to the same resource they are ALL siblings.

There is a way (in the API) to find out if a resource HAS siblings, which will then also tell you that it IS a sibling, but since they woul all be equally "real" what would you do with that knowlege ?

Cheers,

Carl

Hi everyone,

is there a way to determine if a CmsResource is a sibling?

I want to update structured content resources by a cronjob and do the update only for the real files.

Thanks for your help
