I'm not very familar with Debian. /etc/debian_version shows 4.0
I believe that path (/usr/share/tomcat5.5-webapps got installed by the
apt-get install tomcat5.5
I will do a complete deinstall now and will try to do a new install
to see what happens.

AFAIK, linux can use 3GB under a 32bit architecture
