[opencms-dev] Admin option "Re-Initialize the Workplace"

Just a short question: What is the admin option "Re-Initialize the
Workplace" doing (reloading) exactly?

E.g. will it reload the configuration of modules after changing them in
opencms-modules.xml (or importing them)? So far one will have to restart
the webapp container after importing a module, else the database import
will not work correctly (e.g. custom XMLContent will have no type).
