[opencms-dev] opencms 8: special characters are replaced with question marks

Hi

I have a strange problem since the update from opencms 7.5 to 8.0.3.

The property editor will turn any special characters (e.g. Russian or Chinese characters) into question marks. Only normal latin characters survive.

I have changed the encoding settings for opencms and the default encoding of the Java VM as well as the connection options for mysql. Everything is configured to use UTF-8.

Does anybody have an idea why the characters are destroyed?

The problem only happens when editing properties; html content is fine. Also, the content only gets destroyed, when it is edited - the properties of existing files look okay as long as they are not change.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
