I will double check it, next time.
The central repo can't be updated.
But you can define the OpenCms dependency version in your <dependencyManagement> Section of your pom.xml:

I'm not sure when this could be a problem.
If your project depends on an OpenCms Module, you should also have a dependency to Opencms-Core itself. Right?
