Hi Hein,
I would suggest using Tomcat 7 for OpenCms 9.01 since Tomcat 5.x is long after its end-of-life state now.
But you are right - the statement about minimum requirements should be updated.
Regards,
Manfred

Betreff: [opencms-dev] Opencms 9.01 not on tomcat 5?
Hello list,
Am I correct that opencms 9.01 is not supported on tomcat 5?
( I installed it on a test version)
After upgrade the old things that worked seem to work again.
But if you add the 9.01 bootstrap templates and content, the dev-demo, demo and releasenotes don't work at all.
error: Page directive has invalid attribute: trimDirectiveWhitespaces.
When i remove trimDirectiveWhitespaces="true" from the first line of every bootstrap jsp I get most of the new content visible again.
But some parts of the demo still don't work on the version on tomcat 5.
It seems that tomcat 5 does not support JSP version 2.1 witch seems needed for trimDirectiveWhitespaces
but possibly is needed for a lot of other things as well.
I was disapointed for I looked at the last installation instruction on opencms.org:
http://www.opencms.org/en/development/installation/server.html#a2
which states
OpenCms 7 requires a Servlet 2.4 / JSP 2.0 standards compliant container. Tomcat 5 is the reference implementation of this Standard. This release was tested with Tomcat 5.0.x and Tomcat 5.5.x. Older versions of Tomcat (4.x and earlier) do not support this newer standard and are thus not usable for OpenCms 7.
and says nothing on new requirements regarding tomcat for newerer opencms versions.
What is the last opencms version that is supposed to run without problems on tomcat 5 ?
