[opencms-dev] OpenCms + IntelliJ IDEA

Hey Alberto,

we use OpenCms with IntelliJ, but we seem to use a different module structure since we never ran into problems concerning two identical content roots.
We use our own IntelliJ plugin for syncing the real file system with the VFS.

There’s our presentation from the OpenCms days at Slideshare:
https://www.slideshare.net/AlkaconOpenCms/opencms-days-2014-opencms-module-development-and-deployment-with-intellij-maven-and-jenkins
It’s a bit old, but the basic principles remain the same.

Details on the Plugin can be found on GitHub:
https://github.com/mediaworx/opencms-intellijplugin/wiki

Unfortunately right now the plugin is plagued by bugs that occurred in recent versions of IntelliJ (modules not being recognized correctly, crashes when renaming resources), but I intend to work on those problems this week.

Cheers

Kai

Hi list!

No one using IntelliJ IDEA? I'm so frustrated with this issue: https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/IDEABKL-6745#comment=27-460102&tab=Comments ("Cannot define two identical content roots in different module within a single project"). Unfortunately, without this one implemented, we have no chance to work comfortably with the code :-( The issue has been completely ignored for years.

If anyone is using IDEA, how do you use it? The auto-import doesn't help, and I don't want to redefine project dependencies manually...

Best regards,

Alberto
