Hello,
As mentioned in my precedent mail, we're looking for a CMS.
We want to use the CMS as a ground layer for our developpements, and
then add, "plug" :
- product catalog
- eBusiness solution : shopping cart, orders, shipping, taxes,
customers
- other custom solutions
Here are some questions ; Your answers will permit us to have a better
vision of openCMS and know why we should use it. The questions are
straight ; I realize that the project is openSource and already well
advanced.
documentation - references
- [Q1] Is there any reference of such site, including OpenCMS and
eBusiness features ??
- [Q2] more generally, is there any list of openCMS powered web sites
?
- [Q3] about documentation ; I took a look at the prototype and have
seen the document manuel in german (Mein Goette... Ich hab so viel
wortschatz verloren !!). Is there any data model, product architecture
document already written ?
developement - proccess
- [Q4] I've seen mainly german people subscribed to this list, and
lots of them from Framfab... which sounds normal. My question is : is
the product vision and development architecture decisions mostly done by
people from Framfab... and GlobeTech, or are there also people "from
outside" ?
- [Q5] I've been told that the openCMS solution is very slow ; is
that right ? is that mainly related to server configuration or also to
product architecture ? In case it's right, are there plans in the near
future to improve this ?
functionnlaties
- [Q6] full text search engine : is that possible, has it already
been done, to add a search engine like altavista or verity ?
- [Q7] multi language : any reference of site using different
languages ?
- [Q8] personnalization : same question...
- [Q9] syndication : same question...
- [Q10] multi-hosting : we'll need to work as an Application Service
Provider ; is that planned to be able to use multiple sites on the same
server ?
comparaison with Openmarket (www.openmarket.com) content center &
content server, and fatwire (www.fatwire.com) update Engine, and
Percussion (www.percussion.com) Rythmic products :
- [Q11] I'm looking at those products... and have to make a choice ;
have You got any suggestions, criteria ??
I thank in advance the people who'll take a little time answering me.
Bye,
Arnaud
