[opencms-dev] Jsp Front End?

Hi,
I am valuating to use the framework of open-cms, but I am concerned about 
the interface for accessing the workarea. It's
based not on standard jsp, but on open-cms templates system.
Has somebody some experiences about a jsp front-end for the administration 
of the work area and can advise me where to start to build it? is it in 
your opinion a difficult task?
