i would try to build a complete new view, there you`re absolutely free to
do whatever you want to. So after that you have to create folders with
name of the menu icons you want to offer in your new view. In this folders
you have to uild an index.html which is an xml file. In this xml file you
make a link to a jsp or whatever you want to use as view for this submenu.
Have a look for example in /system/workplace/logs/

then inspect a little the code in the files there and i think it`ll become
a bit more clear what to do.
