[opencms-dev] js-error sitll not solved (was javascript-errors (object expected))

I am emailing here again in hopes someone will respond as I am trying to
implement a site with opencms that is working on my winXP box but will not
work on the clients win2k box.

I have it narrowed down to a specific problem. in the function
checkForm(whichone) on page
/system/workplace/action/explorer_files_new_folder.html is calling a
function named encodeURIComponent. I can not locate this function in any of
the /system/workplace/scripts. I have only looked in the most obvious one
and I am going to continue looking for this function definition.

I believe what ever page is responsible for loading this function to be
called when creating a folder that there must be a try catch block that is
set to do nothing hence there are no tomcat error's or opencms logs to
verify what may be going wrong.

Please refer to the earlier email for system details and the original
problem. Or better yet I will paste it below.

Hi folks,

I am having the same problem as described back in January by Marc-Christian
Hillebrand. I have looked everywhere to try and solve the problem and I am
having no luck.

If I try to create any type of resource, page, folder etc.. I get a
JavaScript error at line 44 Object expected. I would have thought that an
error might show up in the logs saying that a page failed to load or
something causing the js function not to be available. My environment info,
setup and procedures are below. If anyone else has solved this problem,
please give me some insight as to what I can do.

win2k service pack 4
opencms 5.0
mysql 3.2.3.55
j2sdk1.4.1_03
tomcat-4.1.18-LE-jdk14
I set the start up link for Tomcat with the -Dfile.encoding="ISO-8859-1" so
the jvm will start with the proper file encoding for opencms.

Hi Nico,

thank you very much. Now it works. :-)
Could this hint be found somewhere in the docs?
