[opencms-dev] How to send a mail to a user

Hi,
The pdf document: UserDoc.pdf in the section on WorkFlow says,

"Depending on the selected messaging options, an e-mail is automatically 
sent to either the preferred user or all users that are assigned to a role 
as soon as a new task has been added to the project." 

Can someone please tell how to set the email option, so that a mail is 
sent to the concerned user when a task is assigned to the user.
