which version from Opencms you use? Version 5 or 6?

In Version5 you should use Apache before Opencms. For this scenario 
there are lot of hints in mailinglist archive and on opencms-forum.de

And Alkacon published a Documentation Module for doing this. Have a look 
opencms.org under Modules Download.

If you use Version6 it should work the same way, but there are some more 
properties to configure this in opencms.properties
