I don't want to throw oil on the fire but my first impression wasn't 
very positive, either. Primarily the undemocratic, to avoid the expression
"authoritarian", way it has been introduced.

Firstoff it seems borrowed from the newer MySQL logo (the rounded letters),
then again, the funny box as an idea for symbolizing content management has
totally gone and has been replaced by an open circle (which reminds me of
the ARAL store, shop within german fuel stations or of an one-eyed frog :-)

The last graphical mistake is how the new logo is now placed into the old
oval surround on the opencms.org home page.

Well, we have been asked to speak out our opinions about the new logo
(though after the event). The above are mine.
