[opencms-dev] Internationalization and Multilanguage

Hi, I'm in the process of re-orientating myself with OpenCMS. I haven't
used it for about 2 years and I've just been assigned to a project that
uses this content manager. I'm very impressed at how far it's come in
the last 2+ years.

My question is regarding Multilanguage sites. I'm setting the "locale"
setting to "en" on all my default pages and folders. Then, I'm creating
siblings of each folder and setting the locale to "fr". I'm doing this
for each file too. Each of my French files and folders I'm suffixing
with "_fr" to distinguish between the English and French version of the
pages. The problem I'm experiencing is that when I'm viewing the French
version of the page, all the folders are showing up on the navigation
bar (both French and English). I only want the navigation items that
have a locale of "fr" to show up when I'm viewing a "fr" page, and vice
versa for the English pages.

Can OpenCMS do this automatically or do I have to extend it myself by
writing my own filtering mechanism for the navigation bar that's
automatically included in the Template 1 templates?

In general, I'm I attempting to do this Multilanguage site the best way,
or is there another way that would make more sense? (By the way, I'm
using OpenCMS version 6.something)

Thanks,

- Dylan
