[opencms-dev] Merge new database into existing one

Hi,
What I mean is not upgrading the OpenCms version but stay with the same
version and to change existing database. I will explain in more details:
In my organization there is two kind of roles:
* the developer which prepare base installation of the portal with
basic content
* the content manager which add extra content to what he received from
the developer
Now, after the portal is live and being updated with new content from
the content manager all the time, the developer decided to change some
of the initial content he delivered. At this point the developer needs
to take care he does not change files that the content manager already
changed and by doing so destroy its work.
My question was what is the recommended technique for doing that,
provided there is such a technique?
Thanks,
Ronen.

Hi Ronen,
what do you mean with base version? a major new release of OpenCms, for
instance the upcoming OpenCms 7.5 / 8.x in future which shall be
migrated to it from 7.0.5?
In this case you can easily export the existing data from the previous
version and import it to the new instance of the latest version and it
works even if the templates or data structure changes.
Best,
Arash
