[opencms-dev] why jdk and not jre

Maybe I’m wrong, but I always assumed it was because the JRE does not have the compiler classes required to compile the JSP pages.

Hi,
In the installation guide i have read "You must install the Java JDK (Java Development Kit), not the JRE (Java Runtime Environment) ".
I have tested that openCMS 10.5.0 with the jre has errors. Why the JRE is not sufficient to run OpenCms?
